We were all very prepared
when we arrived on the shoot day, we had an array of costumes for our band to
choose from and a large amount of makeup too. All three of the sets had all
props and sets prepared and ready to use.
When we first headed down to the studio we had to change the trace paper from in front of the wood to behind the wood as when we put on the lights it created too many shadows when in front.
The first strand that we filmed was the performance strand. we had to move around the band to decided where was the best place to stand and where was the best place to put the amp.
As we started to film we fell into certain roles. for instance Franchi seemed to be in charge of the time code, liv took photos throughout the day and made sure that all artistic elements were correct, and me and phoebe were directing and filming. However we all took part in each element but these were the ones we seemed to fall naturally into.
We then filmed the sheet scene, i felt like this could have been shot better, with more range of shots. I think that this is our least successful strand as most of the shots look the same and the sheet didn't have exactly the right type of effect. However we did get a few good shots which we can use.
The final strand was the glitter falling, it took a while for us to get the correct position for the band, and Tertia had to stand on some books to be the same height at Will. However looking back at the shots from the edit they look beautiful and very artistic and elegant. We had to throw the glitter from above and blow it with a fan, this took a bit of practice and lots of tidying up!
I felt our shoot day was predominantly successful. We managed to get all the shots that we had planned on and finished early. It was good to work with the band as they know the song very well so the lip syncing looks very realistic, and she even sung at some points. We even tried out some more artistic shots such as this one:
(I took a video of a shot where some-one else was filming)
It was interesting to work with a crane, something I have not done before, it made it easy to get interesting shots and sped up the process.
